It’s no secret to our members that BCB has the inside scoop on all the latest and greatest- as well as tried and true- baby gear on the market! 2013 is once again a year filled with gear launches that wont disappoint, and our fearless leaders are stepping out in the media to showcase some of their favorite new products that are just perfect for Chicago, Twin Cities…. and now Austin. Tune into KXAN Austin at 12:40 to see Nicole demonstrate some of her personal picks for Austinite mamas. And while she wouldn’t reveal exactly which of her top choices will be getting prime air time, she was sweet enough to share her list of the sensational seven bests not to miss when planning your registry (and beyond) this year.
Nicole’s Sensational Seven:
Nuna Leaf $219
The newest baby soother on the market, Nuna’s Leaf is inspired by the carefree float of a leaf on the breeze. It moves just like mom and dad do and features a less-is-more mentality doing away with unnecessary bells and whistles. Even better? It’s organic, and it’s been tested to be used up to 130 lbs, so even your toddler can crash there after a hard day on the playground!
Samsung Video Wi-Fi Baby Monitor $149.99
This brand new monitor has a reasonable price point for a video monitor with two-way talk feature AND has the added convenience of allowing you to watch your baby from any smartphone, iPad, or computer- a huge plus for parents who work outside of the home or who are tired of juggling a separate baby monitor when trying to get a blitz of activity done while baby naps. Sleep deprived parents rejoice- it’s “One Push Setup” is also heralded to be ready to use in 30 seconds!
This new addition from Ergobaby (whose carriers are perennial favorites among BCB mamas) is perfect for travel since it easily folds into its own front pouch for storage in your diaper bag, stroller, or even around your wrist with the attached strap! When it’s folded, the Stowaway Carrier is about the size of a clutch bag or an Ergobaby Travel Pouch but the design doesn’t sacrifies the padded shoulder straps and waist belt that make all Ergobaby carriers so comfortable. Did we mention it’s lightweight? An ideal choice for Austin summers!
Weighing in under 12 lbs, the journeyBee Travel Crib is a lifesaver for a family on the go- especially if “on the go” includes keeping a suitcase packed for mama and baby underweight to avoid fees! This travel crib pops open in seconds, sports zippered mesh walls to keep baby safe and secure, and is available in five unique washable and waterproof fashions.
Due in April, the UPPABaby Mesa joins a family of well-loved strollers. While UPPABaby Cruz users will revel in its seamless compatibility with their stroller (Requiring NO adaptor… How awesome is that!?!) any user will be just as thrilled with its no rethread harness and SMARTSECURE System allowing for 10 second installation with visual indicators that turn green only after an accurate and safe installation. The folks at UPPABaby sure know how to treat a mama right!
BOB Motion $349
It would be hard to be a parent in the active city of Austin and not be intimately familiar with BOB jogging strollers. Lucky for us, Austin’s favorite jogging stroller is introducing an all-terrain travel-friendly sibling! The Motion is compact, lightweight, and features a one handed quick fold- making it perfect for everyday errands, activities and travel. Doubt that a lightweight stroller can handle life off the sidewalk? The Motion sports a lightweight yet sturdy aluminum frame as well as pneumatic wheels and a rugged suspension system. Add it all up and the Motion is clearly a new Austin essential.
Stokke Crusi $1250 ($300 sibling seat)
I’ve been know to share my love for Stokke’s genius products with our blog audience, so you can imagine I was thrilled when Nicole shared that Crusi is on her short list of baby gear awesomeness! Xplory lovers like myself have highly anticipated the arrival of Stokke’s answer to a double stroller in the Crusi. Just like the Xplory, the Crusi allows for a high seat position bringing the child up close to the parent to stimulate bonding- and also making for an impromptu highchair at cafes and restaurants. The Crusi seat can be positioned five different ways accommodating sleep, rest, and forward or rea facing active engagement. But most importantly- with the addition of the sibling seat, the Crusi becomes an inline double stroller.
I’ve got to hand it to her- Nicole has a pretty flawless eye for outstanding baby essentials! The real question now is just how she will narrow her list down for the viewers of KXAN, and you’ll just have to tune in to see what she selects.
